Service
Shipping standards, inspection criteria and how claims are handled — agreed before we start.
What we guarantee
- Own workshops, yard and kilns — sawing through packing happens on one site, nothing is subcontracted;
- Oak lamella, squared timber and sawn boards kept in regular stock, so urgent orders can draw on stock first;
- Special thicknesses, widths and lengths produced to your list; trial quantities accepted;
- Re-measured and photographed before loading; packing list and photos travel with the goods.
Shipping standard
Packing
Ends are sealed, bundles are stacked by thickness, strapped and wrapped against moisture. Export shipments can be fumigated or shipped on heat-treated pallets with the certificate attached. Each bundle carries a packing list stating sizes, piece count and volume.
Sizes and tolerance
Standard tolerances, unless the contract says otherwise:
- Thickness: ±0.3 mm after sanding;
- Width: ±0.5 mm after sizing;
- Length: +5 mm / −0 mm;
- Bow and cup: within the contract value, measured per metre of length.
Moisture content
Normally delivered at 8%–12%. A different band can be agreed for your climate (for example 6%–8% or 10%–14%). Readings are averaged from top, middle and bottom of each bundle and the record travels with the goods.
Grades
Graded A / AB / BC on colour, knots, worm holes and surface checks, judged against the sample both sides approved. If you want NHLA or your own company standard applied, state it in the contract — we sort to that standard and self-check before shipping.
Measurement
Measured by actual volume, with rounding as agreed in the contract. A tolerance of ±2% on the total quantity applies; the packing list governs.
Third-party inspection
You may appoint an inspection company to check at our mill before loading — we will open bundles and re-measure — or inspect at the destination port.
How common findings are judged
- Colour variation — natural variation, including heart/sap and origin differences, is not a defect unless colour-matched material is specified;
- Mineral streak, staining — streaks and light staining that do not affect strength or machining are not defects;
- Surface checks — checks that clean up within the finished thickness are not defects; pieces that do not clean up are priced at the next thickness down;
- Knots — sound knots count within the grade; dead or loose knots are defects;
- Distortion — warping or splitting caused by storage conditions after arrival is not a shipping quality issue; let material acclimatise before machining;
- Defects — wane, decay, worm holes, internal checks, pith and unremovable sticker marks are defects.
Our commitment
1. Please complete inspection within 7 days of arrival. If sizing or moisture does not match the contract, send photos and test data; we check them against the cutting and kiln records for that batch:
- up to 5% off-spec — normal variation, no claim;
- 5%–20% — compensated as a downgrade in price;
- over 20% — replacement, or compensation for the off-spec portion;
- over 50% — return accepted, freight both ways borne by the party at fault.
2. We track the shipment until it is signed for; responsibility in transit follows the contract.
3. For any question on sizes, process or material choice, contact Mr. Geng at +86 159 4630 8288 or ouxiangbiaoban@163.com.
